A Halloween Card

Many Australians have started to celebrate Halloween nowadays, but I guess it’s mostly for dressing up and having fun…I do get a few kids in costumes turning up at my door for trick or treating…but that’s about it…I have managed to make a couple of cards for Halloween this year…sharing the first one today and the second one in my next post…

I decided to make interactive Halloween cards, and this one has three flaps on the front, which when opened shows images of cute little ghosts…I have mostly used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies for this card..

I started by die cutting a front panel from white cardstock using large stitched rectangle die…I then sponged in some Distress Oxide inks to cover this panel…I have used fossilized amber, spiced marmalade and vintage photo shades here…I also splattered some gold paint on it…then, using the smallest die from Lift The Flap die set,I die cut three sections in the middle of the panel…
I die cut the word ‘happy’ from black cardstock and adhered it above the flaps and stamped the word ‘Halloween’ underneath using black ink..I also die cut the word BOO from black cardstock as well as black craft foam using an uppercase die set and adhered these above the flaps..

I used a plain white card base and lightly marked the spaces that would show once you lift the flaps…I stamped  and coloured in the ghost images and because they looked a bit dull,I masked them and used Distress Inks to create a colourful background..I have used wilted violet, carved pumpkin and evergreen bough shades of Distress Inks…
I adhered the front panel to my card base and my card was ready..

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog…Have a great day ahead..Happy crafting..!!

Card For An Adorable Baby

I see a lot of attractive night sky and space kind of backgrounds that card makers have been sharing on their blogs and Instagram etc…and I really wanted to give it a try…once the background was ready I was unsure whether it needed to be a bit darker or not…and because I was going to make a baby card,I didn’t want it any darker than this…

The card base is plain white and I have die cut the top layer from watercolour cardstock using the large rectangle cross stitch die….then I used Distress Inks to create the background…I have used the following inks – shaded lilac, wilted violet, blueprint sketch, seedless preserves and hickory smoke…I splattered some water and some white paint on this panel for effect…
I stamped the word ‘adorable’ right at the top and heat embossed it using silver embossing powder…I die cut the word baby using large alphabet dies – first from white cardstock and then from silver glitter cardstock and glued them together and placed them on the card…I also added a silver heat embossed sentiment banner that says ‘Bundle Of Joy’…
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the moon with sleeping baby, coloured it in and cut it out then placed it on the card…I added a few stars that I punched from silver glitter cardstock as well….
Thank you for your visit today…I’m glad you stopped by my blog…Have a wonderful day ahead…!!

Sending Joy – Shaker Card

When I tried out the word window shaker card earlier,I missed a couple of steps and wanted to try it out again….and what better than a Christmas card with some colourful sequins in the shaker…
Here is the link to the tutorial video by Therese Calvrid that inspired me to make this card – Word window Shaker Card
The card base is plain pink and the top layer is made from watercolour cardstock….using a pink distress ink and water on a small acetate sheet,I smooshed the colour onto the watercolour cardstock…
I die cut the word JOY from the top layer and adhered a piece of acetate under it…to create the shaker element I have used craft foam under the top layer…
Last time I forgot to add something contrasting at the base of the shaker element…thankfully this time I remembered and added a few strips of green glitter tape…to finish the shaker element,I simply added the sequins and adhered the top section to the card base…
I then die cut large deer from brown cardstock and adhered it to the card….I also stamped the rest of the sentiment on two pink banners and placed them onto the card…
To embellish the card I have used a few gold star sequins…

Sending Love – Shaker Card

It’s so exciting for me when I follow a great tutorial, learn a good technique and things turn out as they should….and that says a lot about the person who taught me how to create that particular item…one of the bloggers whose tutorials I love is Therese Calvrid (Lost In Paper blog) – her tutorials and excellent and her cards are fantastic….
To make today’s card,I followed her tutorial from the last week of September in which she created a word shaker card…she has also recently created another card for a blog hop where she has used a similar technique
Now,I’m not saying my card turned out superb and all that but what I learnt was an excellent technique….and hopefully I can make my next card using this technique a lot better…
I used a red card base(and forgot to add the washi tape in the background)…I used distress inks to create the background on the top layer and then followed Therese’s tutorial to create the shaker card…I used a stamp to complete the sentiment…
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped and coloured in the little girl image before cutting it out and placing it on the card…I have used Nuvo crystal drops to embellish the card..
Thanks so much for visiting my blog today…Have a happy and crafty day…!!
