Atlenew Decoupage Flowers – A Card & A Tag

I have been planning to try out the decoupage technique for a very long time and have finally been able to create something…I have seen a lot of cardmakers create beautiful cards and share tutorials for this technique but the one video that I found the most helpful was the one by Yana Smakula…and although she used wood block stamps and coordinating layering dies for her tutorial, you get the idea of how exactly it is done…here is the link to her full post if you’d like to check it out – 3D Decoupage Technique by Yana Smakula

I made a card using Altenew Dahlia Blossoms stamp set and halftone stencil as well as a tag using the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set…and even in the pictures you can see that the flowers give a dimensional look…

For the card I chose a dark coloured card base and die cut the top layer using white cardstock and a pierced rectangle die….I then used the hafltone stencil and broken china Distress Oxide ink to print the pattern lightly onto the top layer, making sure not to cover the whole panel…

On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped and coloured each of the flower images twice using Peerless watercolour..I also stamped and coloured in a few leaves….once dry,I cut out the leaves and one each of the flowers…then to create the decoupage layer,I cut out the inner layer of the second flower and adhered it to the main flower using foam squares…

I adhered the leaves and the dimensional flowers to the card front, added the sentiment on a small panel and adhered some rhinestones to embellish my card…and finally,I added a bit of shimmer by using my Spectrum Noir sparkle marker…

Here is a close-up shot of the flowers…

So while I was practicing this technique,i decided to make a tag as well…this time using the Altenew Beautiful day peony flower outline stamp…
First I die-cut the tag using watercolour cardstock and painted a few lines in various colours…then I stamped the flower leaf images on a separate piece of cardstock and coloured them in using Peerless watercolours as well…once dry,I cut out the two of the flowers as is and one flower’s inner layer…
I placed the darker coloured flower and the leaves at the bottom of the tag and then placed another flower above them…and finally I used foam squares to adhere the inner layer on this flower…
I added the sentiment, some pink sequins and a pink ribbon and my tag was ready…

Altenew Garden Hydrangeas – Just For You

After making a pop-up card with the Altenew Garden Hydrangeas stamp set,I decided to make a couple more…the first card I made today turned out almost as planned but the second one I’m not too sure about…although I still like it and it looks good but I feel it’s missing something….anyways,I just love this Hydrangeas stamp set….

For my first card,I chose a lavender coloured textured cardstock to make the card base as well as the top layer…I embossed the top layer using Seeing Spots embossing folder and then lightly sponged in some shaded lilac distress ink…
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the outline stamp of the flowers and a few of the leaves and coloured them in using watercolour pencils and a water brush…once dry,I placed them on the card…
The sentiment has been stamped on a strip of lavender cardstock and I have placed it above another light blue banner using craft foam..

For my second card I chose a bright green card base and a plain white top layer….on this top layer,I stamped the base stamp layer of the Garden Hydrangeas layering stamp set using blue dye ink and a couple of green leaves as well…
I then cut a piece of vellum as bit larger than the top layer and then using my mini Misti and watermark ink,I stamped the top layer of the Hydrangeas and leaves and quickly heat embossed it using silver embossing powder….I then placed this layer above the white stamped top layer and tucked the excess paper behind it….I have not used any adhesive for the vellum layer,I simply used silver string and wrapped that around…
I die cut the word happy from silver glitter cardstock and stamped the word birthday on a silver strip of card and adhered these to the card…and finally to embellish the card I have used a few blue sequins…
Thank you so much for visiting today…Have a lovely & blessed day ahead….Happy crafting…!!

Just Because..

I have always admired card makers who create beautiful cards with a crisp white background…it’s not easy when you are using inks and all sorts of colouring mediums…but I guess practice and a bit of planning makes it better…so today I’m sharing a card that turned out just right…..

The card base is plain white and I have used a lime green mat layer…the top layer is also white and I have stamped two doily stamps – one large and one small – on the top layer using black ink…

On a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped a couple of other smaller doily stamps with black ink as well and partially coloured them in and cut them out…then using adhesive foam for a bit of dimension, I placed two of these in the middle of the stamped doilies and another one on the side…

The sentiment is from an Altenew stamp set called Painted Greetings…

I have not used any embellishments on this card but have used glossy accents to make the center of the doilies a bit more brighter and shiny…

Thank you for visiting my blog today…Have a happy and crafty day…!!
