Sending Joy – Shaker Card

When I tried out the word window shaker card earlier,I missed a couple of steps and wanted to try it out again….and what better than a Christmas card with some colourful sequins in the shaker…
Here is the link to the tutorial video by Therese Calvrid that inspired me to make this card – Word window Shaker Card
The card base is plain pink and the top layer is made from watercolour cardstock….using a pink distress ink and water on a small acetate sheet,I smooshed the colour onto the watercolour cardstock…
I die cut the word JOY from the top layer and adhered a piece of acetate under it…to create the shaker element I have used craft foam under the top layer…
Last time I forgot to add something contrasting at the base of the shaker element…thankfully this time I remembered and added a few strips of green glitter tape…to finish the shaker element,I simply added the sequins and adhered the top section to the card base…
I then die cut large deer from brown cardstock and adhered it to the card….I also stamped the rest of the sentiment on two pink banners and placed them onto the card…
To embellish the card I have used a few gold star sequins…

Sending Love – Shaker Card

It’s so exciting for me when I follow a great tutorial, learn a good technique and things turn out as they should….and that says a lot about the person who taught me how to create that particular item…one of the bloggers whose tutorials I love is Therese Calvrid (Lost In Paper blog) – her tutorials and excellent and her cards are fantastic….
To make today’s card,I followed her tutorial from the last week of September in which she created a word shaker card…she has also recently created another card for a blog hop where she has used a similar technique
Now,I’m not saying my card turned out superb and all that but what I learnt was an excellent technique….and hopefully I can make my next card using this technique a lot better…
I used a red card base(and forgot to add the washi tape in the background)…I used distress inks to create the background on the top layer and then followed Therese’s tutorial to create the shaker card…I used a stamp to complete the sentiment…
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped and coloured in the little girl image before cutting it out and placing it on the card…I have used Nuvo crystal drops to embellish the card..
Thanks so much for visiting my blog today…Have a happy and crafty day…!!

You Are My Sunshine

I have recently started following Therese on her blog called Lost in Paper….She also puts up great tutorial videos on some posts…and all her cards are absolutely fabulous….
For today’s card I have followed her technique for the Distress Ink Penny Black Butterfly Panel…and in order to make my card a bit different from hers,I made two panels and used them on the sides rather than make one for the center…
So I started with a piece of white cardstock same size as my card front and used distress inks to colour in all of it..then using my Mini Misti and black Versafine ink I stamped the flowers first on the top layer and then directly onto the card front….I then stamped the sentiment…
Then next step was to cut the top layer into 3 parts…I kept the middle one aside…on the other two,I adhered some craft foam before attaching it to the card front…and after adding a few sequins,my card was ready…
I really enjoyed making this card…It’s very simple and quick to make and lookp good too…
Thanks for visiting my blog today…Have a great day ahead….!!

Bright Birthday Shaker Card

I finally found a big pack of craft foam sheets at a craft store and the first thing I created using a foam sheet was a shaker card….I have made many shaker cards before using shaker pockets or layers of cardstock frames…using foam makes it a bit bulky but I feel that the shaker effect is the best as the sequins get a bit of a room to move around…and shake..!!.  🙂  🙂
Starting with a black cardstock base,I used a stitched rectangle die to create the top layer using watercolor cardstock…then after using a few shades of yellow and orange distress inks on the top layer,I spritzed the weave embossing folder with water and used it to stamp on the top layer…
I die cut a frame for the shaker element using a mini scallop rectangle die and yellow cardstock and a smaller rectangle frame using black foam….I placed the acrylic sheet between the foam and the frame and then put in a mix of sequins and stars….then I cut a black cardstock panel for the shaker backing…I attach a fairy to the black cardstock panel before closing the shaker with it…
Once the shaker was adhered to the top layer,I attached an orange banner with the sentiment heat embossed with white heat embossing powder…I also coloured in and cut out an image of a cute little boy and adhered it to the shaker….
I’m so glad you stopped by to take a look at my card today….Hope you will have a beautiful day ahead…!!
