Watercoloured Dahlias For Altenew April Inspiration Challenge

I am always blown away by all the cards created by Erum Tasneem(Vibgyor Cards)..if you have seen her work, then you will agree that they are the most beautiful works of art….and I’ve made today’s card for this month’s Altenew Inspiration Challenge after being inspired by watching a video tutorial by her….

This is the image provided for the challenge and I chose the three colours highlighted from the picture…
I started by stamping the Altenew Dahlia flowers and leaves on watercolour cardstock using watermark ink and heat embossing all of  them with Altenew antique gold embossing powder…I coloured these images with a lot of water and some Peerlesss watercolours(bubble gum, amethyst, cobalt blue and grass green) as well as some Gansai Tambi blue gold watercolour for all that extra shimmer…

I added a gold foil front panel to my plain white card base and then die cut a smaller top panel from watercolour cardstock…I applied some amethyst Peerleess watercolour randomly to add some colour to the background and once dry,I splatter some black watercolour before adhering this panel to the card front..
Next,I placed all the coloured in flowers and leaves on my card and used foam squares under a few of them for a bit of dimension…I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment on a black strip of cardstock and added a thin gold strip below it before placing it on my card as well…and to embellish my card,I have added some black Nuvo drops here and there…

I need to practise my watercolouring quite a lot so I can get better results…it is on the top of my ‘to do’ list for this year…and I’ll be so happy if my watercolouring improves even a bit…
I’m glad you stopped by to take a look at my card….Hope you will have a beautiful day ahead…!!

Love Ya – Time Out Challenge #102

I kept looking at the inspiration picture provided in the latest challenge at Time Out Challenges and could’t make up my mind whether I wanted to use black and white stripes on my card or white and gold (the seat and one of the cushions)…so I decided to use both…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri
This is the challenge photo and as you can see,I took a whole lot of inspiration from it..
I started by creating the front panel for my card…I cut the black and white striped paper at an angle and adhered it onto a piece of black cardstock…I then used a pierced rectangle die to neaten up the panel and cut off the excess…I adhered this panel onto a white card base…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

On a separate piece of white cardstock,I adhered white and gold lace strips that I die cut using the Lawn Fawn lacy borders die and then used a large heart die to cut out the main element of my card…I adhered this heart on the card front using some black craft foam underneath…

And finally,I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment on white cardstock and die cut it using the coordinating die…I also die cut the same four times from black cardstock and adhered it under the main sentiment…this was just to make sure that the sentiment doesn’t merge with the white and gold heart in the background…I placed a small red die cut heart above the sentiment and my card was ready…

Foil Background Card For Timeout Challenge #101

I got a bit carried away trying out foiling (successfully) for the first time that I almost missed my submission for Time Out Challenge #101…..somehow all my previous attempts at foiling failed until I followed a video tutorial shared by Linda (A Happy Scramper) a couple of months ago…if you only want to see the foiling part skip to 1:27 on the video….

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

I first used a stencil and Deco Foil transfer gel and applied a thin layer on a cardstock panel…once dry( a few hours),I cut a piece of gold foil transfer sheet same size as the panel and placed it between a folded sheet of baking paper and ran it through the hot laminator…I think in all my previous tries,I was using a thick paper which wasn’t letting the heat through and that’s why the foil wasn’t sticking…
I then used black soot Distress Oxide Ink and sponged it all over the foiled panel and splattered some water for effect…I really like how this ink gave a slate kind of colour rather than black..

Once the panel was added to the card base,I added a few thin strips of gold foil cardstock on it as well as a die cut word ‘happy’ from pink shimmer cardstock…I stamped the word birthday on a small gold label and adhered it above the die cut word…
On a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped the little dog and gift image, coloured it in and cut it out before placing it on my card front..

I chose the image with a gift on it as this was the ‘inspired by words’ challenge by Time Out Challenges

Pretty Pansies For Altenew October 2017 Inspiration Challenge

For this month’s Altenew inspiration challenge, there were three soft colours and a beautiful card by Lydia Evans to get inspired by…I am usually quite reluctant to use light colours so this was actually quite a challenge for me…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri
Here is the beautiful inspiration card and colours…

I wanted my card to be slightly larger than my usual A2 size to accommodate the design properly so I created a card base that was 4&1/4″ x 6″….I then created the front panel from watercolour cardstock on which I applied water first then randomly added Gansai Tambi watercolours in green, light pink and gold shades…once dry,I cut it to size and adhered it to my card front…
Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

On a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped the Altenew Pretty Pansies layering stamp using Altenew crisp dye inks…for the flowers I have used coral berry, cotton candy and peach perfect and gold heat embossed the top layers and for the leaves I used parrot, bamboo and forest glades shades and decided not to add gold heat embossing on them…I cut these flowers and leaves out with my scissors as I didn’t want a white border around them…
I then used the coordinating dies and die cut the flowers and leaves from gold foil cardstock which I have embossed using the Darice polka dot embossing folder…and now that all the elements of my card were ready,I adhered them to my card front using glue and adhesive foam squares in various thickness to add some interest and depth…

For the sentiment,I first used a mirror stamp to create a solid colour base for the labels..I used cotton candy and peach perfect here and heat embossed the sentiment on the top layer…and finally I added a few gold Nuvo drops to embellish my card…
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today…Hope you will have a happy and blessed day ahead…Happy crafting..!!

For The Love Of Harry Potter!!

The title of my post tells you why I made this card…but it doesn’t tell you how much fun I’ve had making it…he he…the Harry Potter movies are an absolute favorite of my family and we have watched them together way too many times to count…there are 3 different stamp sets from Sweet Stamp Shop which have all the main characters from this series…even Hagrid and Dumbledore..!!

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

I first started by creating the background on watercolour cardstock….I randomly applied the greens and blues from Gansai watercolours and then the gold from the starry colours set..once dry,I added a gold die cut frame on this panel and adhered it to a plain white card front…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the images of Harry,Ron,Hermoine, the broomsticks and the sorting hat and coloured them in using Spectrum Noir markers and cut them out before placing them on the card…

I stamped the sentiment on a gold banner and adhered it to the card front using some adhesive foam and added the sorting hat on it…

With all the gold foil and gold watercolour as well,I decided not to embellish the card…

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today…Hope my card made you smile…Have a happy and crafty day ahead…!!

Trying Out The Block Watercolor Stamping Technique

Anyone who is a big fan of Jennifer McGuire would’ve seen or even already tried out this block stamping technique that she shared a tutorial for earlier this month….it is the simplest way to create a background and great for teaching kids as well…I did not do any heat embossing on my cards as I wanted to use die cuts on them….

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For these cards,I made the background first and then decided later which colour to use for the card base…I started by cutting watercolour cardstock to size and then used various distress inks  to dab on the acrylic block…here I have used the following shades – peacock feather, mustard seed, picked raspberry and aged mahogany…I then spritzed some water on the block and stamped that onto the watercolour cardstock…making sure it doesn’t move,I added something heavy on top and left it for about 5 mins…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

Once the top layer was completely dry,I die cut the word hello from it and adhered rest of the top layer to a pink card base..I die cut the word hello again from pink craft foam and layered that under the die cut word before adhering it back to the card…

I die cut two trees and coloured them using Distress Inks before adhering them the the card front…and finally I have used a few sequins to embellish this card..

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For my second card I chose a long narrow stamping block and die cut the watercolor cardstock using large cross stitched rectangle die…I then dabbed distress inks onto this block…I have used seedless preserves, blueprint sketch, broken china salty ocean and tumbled glass here..spritzed it with water and stamped on the paper…how easy is that..??

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

Once dry,I adhered the top layer to a light blue card base and added a die cut word ‘congratulations’ on it..I used a gold foil cardstock for this…

I stamped a butterfly on vellum paper using wilted violet Distress Oxide ink and once dry,I cut it out and adhered it to the card front…

To embellish this card I have used some tiny gold star sequins..

Scrapbook Boutique June Challenge – Black & Gold

The card I’m sharing today is my entry for the Scrapbook Boutique June challenge…and the theme of this month’s moodboard is ‘Gold Is The New Black’…and as you can see my card is just gold and black….I think I spent more time trying to click a good enough picture of this card rather than creating it..!! 🙂

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

I started with a gold cardstock for the card base and a black top layer slightly smaller than the card front…I then splattered the top layer with gold paint and once dry embossed it with Heidi Swapp wanderlust embossing folder… this embossing folder has thick stripes on it which look great and also helped me place the alphabet die cuts on the card properly which was a bonus…

Using gold foil cardstock,I die cut three different sized Polaroid frames and chose a black cardstock for the center…I stamped a few different flowers on these using watermark ink and heat embossed the images using gold embossing powder…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For the sentiment I first stamped a stripy border on a piece of gold cardstock(same as card base) using watermark ink and then heat embossed it using gold embossing powder….I die cut the alphabets from this and layered them with craft foam before adhering them to the card as well as the Polaroid frames…

To embellish my card I have simply added a few black Nuvo drops on the Polaroid frames…Here is a close up shot of my card…hope you can see the gold heat embossing on the alphabet dies a bit better in this picture…

Best Daughter In The World

I decided to use White and Gold as the theme for my card today and this is what I created…
The card base is made from gold cardstock and the top layer has been cut to size from white cardstock…to create the background on the top layer,I splattered a bit of metallic gold paint and set it aside to dry…

Then using gold foil cardstock,I die cut the damask motif….on a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped the banner and sentiment using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using gold embossing powder…

After assembling all the elements on the card base,I was undecided whether to add embellishments or not…and finally decided not to…
Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look at my card….Have lovely & blessed day ahead…!!
