Foil Background Card For Timeout Challenge #101

I got a bit carried away trying out foiling (successfully) for the first time that I almost missed my submission for Time Out Challenge #101…..somehow all my previous attempts at foiling failed until I followed a video tutorial shared by Linda (A Happy Scramper) a couple of months ago…if you only want to see the foiling part skip to 1:27 on the video….

I first used a stencil and Deco Foil transfer gel and applied a thin layer on a cardstock panel…once dry( a few hours),I cut a piece of gold foil transfer sheet same size as the panel and placed it between a folded sheet of baking paper and ran it through the hot laminator…I think in all my previous tries,I was using a thick paper which wasn’t letting the heat through and that’s why the foil wasn’t sticking…
I then used black soot Distress Oxide Ink and sponged it all over the foiled panel and splattered some water for effect…I really like how this ink gave a slate kind of colour rather than black..

Once the panel was added to the card base,I added a few thin strips of gold foil cardstock on it as well as a die cut word ‘happy’ from pink shimmer cardstock…I stamped the word birthday on a small gold label and adhered it above the die cut word…
On a separate piece of white cardstock I stamped the little dog and gift image, coloured it in and cut it out before placing it on my card front..

I chose the image with a gift on it as this was the ‘inspired by words’ challenge by Time Out Challenges

Fairy In the Clouds – Action Wobble Card

It’s been a while since I made an interactive action wobble card, so here’s one today…I had fun creating the background too…I have used 6 shades of blue Distress Inks to create it…

I cut white cardstock the same size as the white card base and covered it with these Distress Inks – salty ocean, mermaid lagoon and broken china….then using a cloud stencil and some more Distress Inks,I created the cloudy background…I have used stormy sky, blueprint sketch and tumbled glass shades for the clouds…
On a thicker white cardstock piece,I stamped the fairy, coloured it in and cut it out before adhering the action wobble spring to it and the placing it onto the card front…
I die cut the word ‘happy’ using pink glitter cardstock as well as blue craft foam and layered them before adhering it to the card…I stamped the rest of the sentiment on a pink label…
To embellish my card I have used pink star sequins..

Happy NEW YEAR 2017

So another year is history and a new year has arrived…Wishing you and your family & friends a very happy and prosperous 2017…!!
Today I’m sharing two cards…I wanted bright and blingy and something fun to welcome the new year..so I made one very large card using gold foil cardstock and the WRMK alphabet punch board and a smaller shaker card using lots of glitter cardstock…
My first card has a printed cardstock base with a bit of glitter which is 11″x 4″ when folded….I then punched out the four numbers using gold foil cardstock and the alphabet punch board…I also ran these numbers through my Cuttlebug using a WRMK next level embossing folder before adhering them to the card base…
Then all I had to do was to die cut the word ‘happy’ using pink cardstock, apply a bit of glossy accents and adhere it above the numbers and my card was ready…

My second card is a small but a very very glittery shaker card…I die cut the card base using blue glitter cardstock and the largest die from a nesting die set called Lorrianes flower…I then die cut a circle using gold glitter cardstock as a sort of top layer for this card…

Using the second largest die from the same die set,I die cut the base of the shaker element using brown glitter cardstock…I die cut a lot of circle frames using white cardstock and layered them together to make the shaker ‘well’…in between one of these circle frames I attached a strip of acetate and adhered die cut numbers 2017 on it…this really helps in keeping the numbers visible as most sequins can freely move under that acetate strip and not hide them…

I filled in colourful star sequins and closed the shaker with a die cut acetate circle…I die cut another circle frame for the top of the shaker using brown glitter cardstock…
