You Brighten My Day

I’m sharing a simple watercoloured card today…I have been practicing with my Aqua markers these days and I feel that I can water colour in smaller images better with these markers and a water brush rather than colouring directly with a paint brush…also I was quite happy that I was able to keep my front panel clean and smudge free… šŸ™‚

I started by stamping and heat embossing the large image on a watercolour cardstock front panel..I then coloured it in with the Spectrum Aqua markers and a water brush and once dry,I embossedĀ  the edges using the double stitched rectangle die….I stamped the sentiment on using Altenew tide blue crisp ink and then adhered this panel onto a plain white card base…

On a separate piece of watercolour cardstock,I stamped and heat embossed the two butterfly images and coloured these with Aqua markers as well and then cut them out and placed them on my card using some adhesive dots…and finally I used my clear sparkle pen to add a bit of shimmer to the images…

You Are My Happy Place – Time Out Challenge #88

The card I’m sharing today is the kind I love to create…DIY background, lots of colour but still uncomplicated with a cute image…Also,I’m entering my card in the Time Out Challenge #88…and this time the theme is ‘Inspired by Words’ so we have a Roald Dahl quote to be inspired by –
‘ If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely ‘

There was some great inspiration provided by the DT….I looked at all of their beautiful cards and decided to use a die cut sun as well as a rainbow background and a happy sentiment…this is how I interpreted the quote to create my card…

I started with a plain white card base and die cut watercolour cardstock for the top layer same size as the card front…I then used Peerless Watercolors,a wide paint brush and a ruler to paint the rainbow stripes for the background…once dry,I embossed this layer using a Ā WRMK next level embossing folder…
I used a scalloped border die and green cardstock to create a little hill for the piggy to lie on and adhered it to the top layer…I also die cut a sun from yellow and orange cardstock and used craft foam to adhere it to the card front…

On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped the piggy and flower images, coloured them in and cut them out before adhering them to the card using adhesive foam…
I have stamped the sentiment on a dark pink shimmer cardstock strip and used pink sequins to embellish my card..Ā

Watercolour Background Quick Cards

Today I’m sharing two cards that were pretty quick to make…I loved making a watercoloured background for one of my cards earlier and wanted to make some more…

For all the fairy stamps I have and love(and keep buying..lol),I didn’t have many mushroom stamps to build a scene with so I got this one from Hero Arts called You’re A Fungi…I like all the different images on it as well as the pun-ny sentiments in the set…

I started with a watercolour cardstock top layer and painted a random ‘pattern’ using Kurutake Gansai Tambi watercolours, making sure to leave a bit of white area around the edges…once the paint was dry,I used nesting hearts dies to emboss this top layer….I stamped the sentiment and a snail using brown dye ink and adhered this top layer to a Kraft cardtstock card base…

I stamped, coloured in and cut out all the mushroom images and placed them on the card…I have used craft foam under a few of the mushrooms add a bit of dimension to the scene…finally,I added a few sequins and a die cut red heart

For my second card,I created the top layer the same way as my first card and die cut it before adhering it to the card front using some craft foam underneath..I chose a dark blue card base for this card…I then stamped the sentiment on a smaller die cut label and adhered it to the card front…

I die cut the crescent moon and layered it with some craft foam as well and then die cut a few stars from silver foil cardstock and adhered them all to the card…

I have used my Spectrum Noir sparkle pen on both Ā these cards to add a bit of shine to a few of the elements like the mushrooms and the moon…
Thank you for your visit today…I’m so happy you stopped by my blog…Hope you will have a wonderful day ahead…!!
