You’re A Koality Friend – Time Out Challenge #108

A beautiful card by created and shared recently by Olga Moss on Instagram in which she used the fringe borders upside down inspired me a lot and I did tell her that I was going to try her idea…I didn’t just want to copy her, so I spent quite a bit of time trying to incorporate the upside down fringe on my card design…

On a white front panel,I used some Distress inks and MFT radiating rays stencil to print the sun and rays pattern…I have used squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, spiced marmalade and carved pumpkin ink shades and also splattered a bit of water for effect…
Next,I die cut a lot of textured cardstock strips in shades of green and brown using the fringe scalloped border die and adhered them to this panel upside down so it looks somewhat like grass…I used a stitched rectangle die to emboss the edge of the front panel before adhering it to a plain white card base…

I stamped and coloured in the tree and koala images on a separate piece of white cardstock and cut them out before placing them on my card…I have applied Nuvo glaze on certain parts of the images for a bit of shine as well as dimension…
I stamped the sentiment on a die cut fishtail banner and adhered it to the card front using adhesive foam and added some white Nivo drops to embellish my card…

Little Girl Decorating Tree & Pencil Colours On Black Card

The two cards I’m sharing today are very different from each other…because this year I have tried my best not to make two cards that are the exact same…until last year I was still making a big bunch of cards assembly line style and just a handful of other cards…which also means that I have taken a long time to create all my cards and am still making a few…hopefully with better planning and some experience from this year,I will be able to do a much better job next year… 🙂

I have repurposed the stamp set by Simon Says Stamp called Lila’s Heart and instead of Lila holding a heart,I have placed a bauble in her hand and it looks like she is decorating the tree…
I created the background using printed cardstock for this card and used a cross stitch rectangle die to cut out the front panel…I added a red and green fringe scallop border at the top of this panel and adhered it to a white card base..
Then using the Altenew Night Before Christmas tree die, I die cut a tree and sponged in some Distress inks..I have used twisted citron and peeled paint shades here and splattered a bit of water for effect…I adhered this tree to the card front and added the coloured in baubles to it as well as the gold star on the top…I added the little on the side using some adhesive foam strips for a bit of dimension…
I decided not to add any embellishments on this card and I didn’t add a sentiment either as I thought it would really crowd up the card…

On my second card I have used Prismacolor pencils on black cardstock…I stamped and gold heat embossed the gift boxes as well as the sentiment and then coloured in on the images in various colours..I added some glossy accents on top and once dry,I adhered this panel to a textured yellow card base…
Although I can see the imperfections of my colouring in quite clear in the picture, they are not visible when I see it in person…I think I need to pay attention to the edges while colouring in…and sharpen those pencils too…ha ha..!!

Peace Begins With A Smile

The moodboard for the November Challenge at Scrapbook Boutique was quite inspiring…at first I wanted to make Christmas cards using the moodboard’s red and white theme but then other ideas popped up in my head and I went with that instead and have made two cards as my entry for this challenge..

This is the moodboard for the challenge…and if you live in Australia or New Zealand, you can participate in this challenge…the Scrapbook Boutique blog has monthly challenges which I love to participate in…
For my first card,I first created the elements for the front panel using the Altenew Build-a-flower Rose set…I only stamped one layer of the rose using candied apple Distress Oxide ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder before die cutting it..I did the same with the little flower bunch…
I stamped one layer of the leaf stamp with Versamark ink and heat embossed that with white embossing powder and die cut it with the coordinating die…I die cut another piece for layering..I also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on a thin white strip…
Now that all the elements were ready,I cut a white front panel and splattered some red watercolour on it and let it dry before adhering it to a textured red card base…
I added  all the elements to the card front and used craft foam under a few die cuts and the sentiment label for dimension..and finally I used some red Nuvo drops to embellish my card…

I am also entering this card in The Flower Challenge #14 where the theme for this month is CAS

For my second card,I die cut a red front panel using the large stitched rectangle die and adhered it to a white card base…then on a separate piece of white cardstock,I stamped the plaid background using candied apple Distress Oxide ink and die cut a smaller panel to layer above the red panel…
I then die cut three fringe scallop borders from white cardstock and adhered them to the smaller panel…I die cut the word ‘smile from white cardstock as well and layered it with red craft foam die cut before adhering it near the base of this panel…I stamped the rest of the sentiment on a white label and layered that with red craft foam as well before placing it under the large word…
Red Nuvo drops were the perfect embellishments for this card and I just added three of them to finish my card..

Fierce Friends Birthday Wishes – MFT Colour Challenge 74

I wanted to try out my new MFT dies and stamps and what better way than to create something for a card challenge…so I made this card using the colours that were given out for MFT Color Challenge 74…I didn’t plan it this way but I think this would be a great card for a little boy or even twin boys birthday..

Here is the colour combination for this challenge and I have managed to use all four in my card…

I started by sponging on a couple of Distress Inks shades onto the white top layer…I have used weathered wood and old paper here….the weathered wood colour was the closest to the gray colour in the challenge…I then splattered some water on this panel for effect..

Then using three strips of textured cardstock in the colours from the challenge,I die cut the fringed scallop borders and adhered them to the top layer…I also stamped the sentiment using onyx Versafine ink, leaving enough space for the tiger cubs…

I adhered this top layer to the card base and then added the stamped and cut out images of the tigers…I have used adhesive foam for a bit of dimension…and finally I used just a few sparkling clear sequins to embellish my card..

I’m so glad you stopped by my blog today…thank you for your visit…hope you will have a fabulous and creative day ahead..!!
