Hip, Hippo, Hooray!

Some plans or ideas work so well in your head but when it comes to reality, you have to adjust and put on your thinking cap so you can find the next best option…the results can go either way, and thankfully for today’s card I was quite happy with the end result….I was able to alter the die a bit so it could accommodate my card design..

I started by die cutting the collage panel from 110lb white cardstock twice and the cut off the center sections of the collage frame to make a larger area for the cake and hippo images…I then layered the two frames and sponged all the edges using spun sugar Distress ink and adhered this collage frame onto a die cut pink front panel before adhering it to the card base…
Next I die cut a rectangle piece for the center section and sponged the edges of this with the same ink…I stamped little images on the white square sections that were die cut from the panel earlier and coloured them and sponged the edges as well…I then adhered all these panels inside the collage frame…
On a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped coloured in and cut out the hippos and the cake and adhered them to the large center panel…I stamped the sentiment just above using a dark pink dye ink…
To embellish my card I have added a lot of tiny pink star sequins and applied some Nuvo glaze to some of the images…

I will be entering this card in the MFT card challenges for the birthday project as this month’s challenge theme is cakes, cupcakes and candles…and it seems I’ve been able to add all three to my card…
Thanks for visiting my blog today…Hope you will have a great day ahead….!!

Rainbow Of Wishes

I wanted to make a card that wasn’t occasion specific and could be sent for any happy occasion to wish a loved one….I also wanted it to be a bright and colourful card – my favorite kind of card – as I’m planning to share only Christmas cards for December from my next post onwards…

I started by cutting a white front panel to size and the using salty ocean Distress ink and the MFT mini cloud edge stencil to create a cloudy background…I then used an edge die to cut out the strips from coloured cardstock scrap pieces for the rainbow…
Once the rainbow pieces were adhered to the front panel,I die cut the word ‘Rainbow’ twice from white cardstock and layered them before adhering them onto the section where I had stamped the rest of the sentiment using black ink…I used my markers to colour every alphabet in the colours of the rainbow..

I  die cut and adhered a white frame to the front panel and then adhered it to a plain white card base…then on a separate piece of white cardstock,I stamped and coloured in the Hippo image and cut it out and placed him on the rainbow using some adhesive foam squares…I also applied some glossy accents on the hippo image for a bit of shine..and finally I added a few clear confetti sequins to embellish my card..

Hippo Bird-Day

The card I’m sharing today looks like a shaker card and could’ve easily been made one too but I decided not to add the acetate and see how it turns out…I love these cute hippos from MFT Stamps and I have tried my best to keep the focus on them by not creating a busy background as well as adding some dimension using foam tape….

I started by deciding the space where I wanted my rectangle ‘window’ and die cut it from a white top layer…I then lightly marked that space on the card front and sponged in some Distress Inks to create the background…I have used twisted citron and squeezed lemonade ink shades..

I stamped the sentiment on the top panel and then adhered some adhesive foam tape behind this panel and adhered it to the card front…

On a separate piece of white cardstock,I stamped and coloured in the images of the Hippos, the cupcakes, the balloons as well as a little bird…I cut these images out and adhered most of them using liquid glue and the baby hippo using some adhesive foam squares…

I then adhered small clear star sequins all over the background and a few clear confetti sequins to embellish the top layer…

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look at my card today…Hope these Happy Hippos made you happy too…Happy crafting…!!
