Cheeky Meerkat Birthday Card

I have always loved all the stamps by Katzelkraft and especially the unique and funny expressions that the characters have…I wanted the stamped image of the meerkat  to be the main focus of my card so I used stencils and Oxide inks to create the background….

On the front panel I first used MFT Radiating Rays stencil and the following Oxide inks – squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, carved pumpkin and spiced marmalade and then used the MFT Grassy Edge stencil and lucky clover Oxide ink near the base to create an area where I would place the stamped image…

On a separate piece of cardstock,  stamped and coloured in the image using alcohol markers then cut cut it out and placed on my card front using some adhesive craft foam…the sentiment has been stamped on a small white banner and to embellish my card I have added a few clear confetti sequins..

If Friends Were Flowers – Time Out Challenge #109

For ‘Inspired By Words’ challenge #109 at the Time Out Challenges blog, my first idea was to make a flowery card with or without the friend theme…but the more I thought about it, the more I felt like I should make something one of my friends would have a good laugh at….so I chose this funny looking cow stamp from Katzelkraft and made this card…(can you tell I’m a big fan of comedy??)

This is the quote for the challenge…

After die cutting the front panel from Bristol Smooth cardstock, I stamped the cow image and the sentiment using Versafine onxy black ink and quickly heat embossed them using clear embossing powder….I then masked the cow and used stencils and Distress inks to create the back ground…
I have used squeezed lemonade and carved pumpkin with MFT radiating rays stencil and mowed lawn and peeled paint Distress inks with MFt drifts and hills stencil…I also splattered a bit of water for effect…

After removing the mask, I coloured in the cow image using a beige Zig maker and a water brush…once dry, I adhered this panel to a plain white card base…
On a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped, clear heat embossed and coloured in the little flowers and die cut them with the coordinating dies…I adhered them on the card front and placed one of the flowers(without the stem) above the cow’s teeth using a small foam adhesive square…I used my black Copic multi liner to draw a small stem so it seems that the cow is holding a flower between her teeth…

To finish my card, I added a small coloured in heart and used Nuvo glaze on all the flowers for a bit of shine..
Hope my card made you smile as well…thank you for stopping by my blog today…Happy crafting..!!

You’re A Koality Friend – Time Out Challenge #108

A beautiful card by created and shared recently by Olga Moss on Instagram in which she used the fringe borders upside down inspired me a lot and I did tell her that I was going to try her idea…I didn’t just want to copy her, so I spent quite a bit of time trying to incorporate the upside down fringe on my card design…

On a white front panel,I used some Distress inks and MFT radiating rays stencil to print the sun and rays pattern…I have used squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, spiced marmalade and carved pumpkin ink shades and also splattered a bit of water for effect…
Next,I die cut a lot of textured cardstock strips in shades of green and brown using the fringe scalloped border die and adhered them to this panel upside down so it looks somewhat like grass…I used a stitched rectangle die to emboss the edge of the front panel before adhering it to a plain white card base…

I stamped and coloured in the tree and koala images on a separate piece of white cardstock and cut them out before placing them on my card…I have applied Nuvo glaze on certain parts of the images for a bit of shine as well as dimension…
I stamped the sentiment on a die cut fishtail banner and adhered it to the card front using adhesive foam and added some white Nivo drops to embellish my card…
