Birthday Card For Time Out Challenge #110

The card I’m sharing today is my entry for Time Out Challenge #110….and I would also like to share that I received honours in Time Out Challenge #109 which was announced yesterday while I was preparing this card for the current challenge….how great was that? 🙂

For this challenge we have been provided a picture for inspiration…I was quite inspired by the wallpaper and decided to use the colours and small stamps to create a repeat pattern to mimic the wallpaper…

On a piece of watercolour cardstock, I used small flowers and leaf stamps from Lawn Fawn blissful botanicals stamp set to create a pattern which could be easily repeated…I could’ve used a stamping tool but I used small stamping blocks instead…I heat embossed these images with a clear embossing powder and then painted the negative space with a light grey watercolour….

Once the watercolour was dry, I die cut the front panel from it using a large dotted rectangle die and then coloured in the images with my alcohol markers…I also applied some Nuvo sparkle marker for a bit of shine and adhered this panel to a plain white card base…
For the sentiment, I die cut the words happy and birthday twice from black cardstock and twice from the bright pink one….I I layered these together and adhered them on my card…I also applied some Nuvo glaze for a bit of shine..and finally to embellish my card I added some clear sequins…

Watercoloured Dahlias For Altenew April Inspiration Challenge

I am always blown away by all the cards created by Erum Tasneem(Vibgyor Cards)..if you have seen her work, then you will agree that they are the most beautiful works of art….and I’ve made today’s card for this month’s Altenew Inspiration Challenge after being inspired by watching a video tutorial by her….

This is the image provided for the challenge and I chose the three colours highlighted from the picture…
I started by stamping the Altenew Dahlia flowers and leaves on watercolour cardstock using watermark ink and heat embossing all of  them with Altenew antique gold embossing powder…I coloured these images with a lot of water and some Peerlesss watercolours(bubble gum, amethyst, cobalt blue and grass green) as well as some Gansai Tambi blue gold watercolour for all that extra shimmer…

I added a gold foil front panel to my plain white card base and then die cut a smaller top panel from watercolour cardstock…I applied some amethyst Peerleess watercolour randomly to add some colour to the background and once dry,I splatter some black watercolour before adhering this panel to the card front..
Next,I placed all the coloured in flowers and leaves on my card and used foam squares under a few of them for a bit of dimension…I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment on a black strip of cardstock and added a thin gold strip below it before placing it on my card as well…and to embellish my card,I have added some black Nuvo drops here and there…

I need to practise my watercolouring quite a lot so I can get better results…it is on the top of my ‘to do’ list for this year…and I’ll be so happy if my watercolouring improves even a bit…
I’m glad you stopped by to take a look at my card….Hope you will have a beautiful day ahead…!!

You Brighten My Day

I’m sharing a simple watercoloured card today…I have been practicing with my Aqua markers these days and I feel that I can water colour in smaller images better with these markers and a water brush rather than colouring directly with a paint brush…also I was quite happy that I was able to keep my front panel clean and smudge free… 🙂

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

I started by stamping and heat embossing the large image on a watercolour cardstock front panel..I then coloured it in with the Spectrum Aqua markers and a water brush and once dry,I embossed  the edges using the double stitched rectangle die….I stamped the sentiment on using Altenew tide blue crisp ink and then adhered this panel onto a plain white card base…

On a separate piece of watercolour cardstock,I stamped and heat embossed the two butterfly images and coloured these with Aqua markers as well and then cut them out and placed them on my card using some adhesive dots…and finally I used my clear sparkle pen to add a bit of shimmer to the images…

Camp Create Day 4 + Bonus Bonfire – Monochromatic Magic & Awesome Ombre

There were two techniques shared on the My Favorite Things blog for MFT Camp Create Day 4 and Camp Create Bonus Bonfire and I tried  out both of them and am sharing them in today’s post…while the ombre technique card came together very quickly, the monochromatic one took a while as I don’t invest much in background stamps and didn’t have any for this technique,so had to really think hard to come up with a design that I was happy with…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For the Monochromatic Magic technique, I chose a textured pink cardstock for the card base and die cut the top layer from white cardstock…then using my Misti and the candles from Make A Wish stamp set,I  covered the a bottom section of the candles with abandoned coral Distress Oxide ink and stamped it on the white panel…similarly,I used picked raspberry and worn lipstick for the rest of the candles and the flame…I used the abandoned coral shade again to stamp the hearts in the flame and used some glossy accents on them for a bit of dimension…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

The sentiment was much easier to create…I die cut the sentiment from white cardstock and used the same shades of Distress inks and the mini ink blending tool to create the ombre effect on it.. die cut the sentiment again from white craft foam and adhered the two before placing them on the card…

I also added craft foam under the top panel before adhering it to the card base…I have used a few sparkling clear sequins to embellish my card…

For participating in Day 4 of MFT Camp Create I have earned this badge…

The second technique was shared in the Camp Create Bonus Bonfire….it was great to learn how Stephanie created her cards using the ombre technique to create the background as well as colour in the images…I had already used Distress Inks for my previous few cards,so I decided to use some watercolors to create this card…

I started by creating the blue ombre background for the front panel of my card…I saturated the watercolor cardstock panel with water first and then started adding blue Peerless Watercolor slowly from the base upwards so that the colour lightens toward the top section…once dry,I die cut this panel and adhered it to a plain white card base…

On a separate piece of watercolor cardstock,I stamped the flower and leaf images from the Fancy Flowers stamp set using black onyx Versafine ink and then heat embossed them using clear embossing powder….I then used the same technique as the background panel to colour in these images for an ombre effect…
Once dry,I die cut them using the coordinating dies and adhered them onto the card front…I adhered one of the flowers using some adhesive foam for a bit of dimension…
From the leftover piece of the front panel,I stamped and die cut the sentiment and adhered it to the card front using some craft foam underneath…to embellish my card I have simply added a few Nuvo morning dew clear drops…

I have now earned this badge as well for participating in MFT Camp Create Bonus Bonfire ….

Atlenew Decoupage Flowers – A Card & A Tag

I have been planning to try out the decoupage technique for a very long time and have finally been able to create something…I have seen a lot of cardmakers create beautiful cards and share tutorials for this technique but the one video that I found the most helpful was the one by Yana Smakula…and although she used wood block stamps and coordinating layering dies for her tutorial, you get the idea of how exactly it is done…here is the link to her full post if you’d like to check it out – 3D Decoupage Technique by Yana Smakula

I made a card using Altenew Dahlia Blossoms stamp set and halftone stencil as well as a tag using the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set…and even in the pictures you can see that the flowers give a dimensional look…

For the card I chose a dark coloured card base and die cut the top layer using white cardstock and a pierced rectangle die….I then used the hafltone stencil and broken china Distress Oxide ink to print the pattern lightly onto the top layer, making sure not to cover the whole panel…

On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped and coloured each of the flower images twice using Peerless watercolour..I also stamped and coloured in a few leaves….once dry,I cut out the leaves and one each of the flowers…then to create the decoupage layer,I cut out the inner layer of the second flower and adhered it to the main flower using foam squares…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

I adhered the leaves and the dimensional flowers to the card front, added the sentiment on a small panel and adhered some rhinestones to embellish my card…and finally,I added a bit of shimmer by using my Spectrum Noir sparkle marker…

Here is a close-up shot of the flowers…

So while I was practicing this technique,i decided to make a tag as well…this time using the Altenew Beautiful day peony flower outline stamp…
First I die-cut the tag using watercolour cardstock and painted a few lines in various colours…then I stamped the flower leaf images on a separate piece of cardstock and coloured them in using Peerless watercolours as well…once dry,I cut out the two of the flowers as is and one flower’s inner layer…
I placed the darker coloured flower and the leaves at the bottom of the tag and then placed another flower above them…and finally I used foam squares to adhere the inner layer on this flower…
I added the sentiment, some pink sequins and a pink ribbon and my tag was ready…

You Are My Happy Place – Time Out Challenge #88

The card I’m sharing today is the kind I love to create…DIY background, lots of colour but still uncomplicated with a cute image…Also,I’m entering my card in the Time Out Challenge #88…and this time the theme is ‘Inspired by Words’ so we have a Roald Dahl quote to be inspired by –
‘ If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely ‘

There was some great inspiration provided by the DT….I looked at all of their beautiful cards and decided to use a die cut sun as well as a rainbow background and a happy sentiment…this is how I interpreted the quote to create my card…

I started with a plain white card base and die cut watercolour cardstock for the top layer same size as the card front…I then used Peerless Watercolors,a wide paint brush and a ruler to paint the rainbow stripes for the background…once dry,I embossed this layer using a  WRMK next level embossing folder…
I used a scalloped border die and green cardstock to create a little hill for the piggy to lie on and adhered it to the top layer…I also die cut a sun from yellow and orange cardstock and used craft foam to adhere it to the card front…
Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped the piggy and flower images, coloured them in and cut them out before adhering them to the card using adhesive foam…
I have stamped the sentiment on a dark pink shimmer cardstock strip and used pink sequins to embellish my card..

POST EDIT – Just wanted to share that my card for the last Time Out Challenge was chosen to get ‘Honours at Taking Time Out’…yayyy..!!

Easy Stamp Painting – Two Cards,Two Techniques

I have tried the ‘no line watercolouring’ technique so many times and have failed miserably to get the right result…I probably need lots of practice but for now I have found an easy way out which gets me the look of hand-painted flowers so easily…maybe this has been tried and shared by others before but I haven’t seen any tutorials/videos yet…
Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For my first card I chose a lime green card base and die cut the top layer from watercolour cardstock….now for the fun part….I used the detail stamps from a rose layering stamp and and various Distress inks to stamp directly on the top layer….I used one colour at a time and with a water brush I quickly painted on the stamped area, spreading the ink out and painting a flower shape…I used my heat gun to dry the images and repeated the stamping and painting with other colours…I have used picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, candied apple, mustard seed and mowed lawn shades of Distress inks…

To add the gold splatter I had to roughly mask the painted section……I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on a green label and layered it with a gold glitter label before adhering it to the top layer…

Finally before adhering the top layer to the card base,I ran the it through my Cuttlebug using a large rectangle cross stitch die…

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

I used a different…and much simpler idea for my second card….most of you would take one look at it and know exactly what I did to get the hand painted look in this card…

On a piece of watercolour cardstock,I stamped the dahlia and leaves outline images using a very light distress ink….I used a thin paintbrush and Peerless watercolours to paint on top of these stamped outlines…and my painting was done…tell me if I’m wrong but I think it looks hand painted.. 🙂

I then splattered some purple paint on the rest of the card and die cut the words ‘love & hugs’ from it…I then die cut the same words from orange craft foam and adhered it all back onto the card…to embellish my card I have used a few metallic orange sequins…

Scrapbook Boutique MAY Challenge – Two Cards

While I struggled with the last challenge which had pastel colours in the moodboard, for this month’s challenge at Scrapbook Boutique Blog I had a couple of ideas as soon as I looked at the board….I made two cards and decided to share them both..
Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For my first card I chose a plain white card base and watercolour paper top layer…I first coloured in the whole background with light pink water colour and gave it a bit of ombre effect(which you can’t really see in the picture)..once dry,I repeat stamped the snowing stamp using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder…I also smudged some ink on all sides of the top layer and heat embossed that with gold embossing powder as well…

On a separate piece of watercolour paper,I stamped the freesias using pink dye ink and then again with Versamark ink and heat embossed them using clear embossing powder…my Misti came in super handy for this…I coloured in the flowers using Peerless watercolours and cut them out and placed them on the card…

I stamped the sentiment on a small white label and layered it with a gold label and die cut some sequins to embellish this card…I also used my Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to make the flowers glitter and shine..

Me And My Daily Papercraft Blog - Handmade By Pri

For my second card I chose a white base as well and die cut watercolour cardstock for the top layer using stitched rectangle die and then stamped the fairy stamp on it….I masked the fairy and then created another paper mask using one of my border dies and masked the top section of the card…

I used raspberry sorbet and spun sugar Distress Inks to cover the unmasked section and then removed all the masks…using watercolour pencils and my blender pen,I coloured in just a few sections of the stamped image…

I stamped the sentiment and punched a few small butterflies using gold foil cardstock to embellish the card…

Here’s a close up shot of my cards….I love this pink white and gold combination…

Cute Buddies Birthday Card

So this year I have planned to work a bit more on my colouring in…I am trying to learn as much as I can from watching tutorial videos by various cardmakers and practicing what I learn…for years I tried using aqua brushes for colouring in images with watercolour pencils etc. but I just couldn’t get a hang of it…so I finally got myself a Dove blender pen just to see is that would make it a bit easy for me…and luckily…it did..!!
For today’s card I chose a plain white card base and stamped the little confetti stamps all over the front using various coloured dye inks….I then used the largest cross stitched rectangle die to emboss the edges of the card…
On a separate die cut panel,I stamped the little boy and girls and coloured them in using Derwent inktense pencils and my Dove blender pen…I then used Peerless watercolours to paint the background….once the panel was dry,I stamped the sentiment and adhered some craft foam behind it before adding it to the card base….
Thanks for visiting my blog today…Have a lovely & blessed day ahead….Happy crafting…!!
