CASEing For Time Out Challenge #87

The card I’m sharing today is my entry for the latest Time Out Challenges…for this challenge we had to CASE Cornelia’s wonderful card…I was quite inspired to create something immediately and decided to use a cute dragon image for my card…what took most of my time was to decide how to create the background and which sentiment to use for my card..

I chose watercolour cardstock for my card’s top layer and cut it the same size as the card front…I stamped the MFT Dragon image using Versafine onyx black ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder…this wasn’t necessary as such but I think it makes the dragon image  much clearer and prominent…

I coloured in the dragon using Spectrum Noir markers and then masked it so I could create the background…using some scrap copy paper,I die cut a large circle from it and used the negative part of the die cut to mask the top layer…I then used a stencil and weathered wood Distress Ink to print the  background…
On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from MFT stamp set called Clearly Sentimental About Emerson which has some wonderful quotes by Ralph W Emerson…I then cut the sentiment into six different strips and adhered them to the card…
And finally to embellish my card I have used a few sequins…

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today….Hope you will have a wonderful and happy day ahead…!!

To Celebrate You!

I had created this geometric background top layer for a different card but that wasn’t working quite well so I held on to it until I could make a better card using it…I was still a bit unsure about using it with the flowers, but once I had coloured them in,it looked pretty good…
The card base is plain yellow and the top layer has been die cut using watercolour cardstock and cross stitched rectangle die…I then sponged in various shades of yellow distress inks to cover the  top layer…I printed the geometric pattern using a craft stencil and orange distress ink…
On a separate piece of cardstock,I stamped the flowers and jar from the Stampendous – Bouquet For You stamp set and coloured them in using Peerless watercolours…I die cut these two using the coordinating dies from the set and placed them onto the card…
The sentiment has been stamped on a small strip of yellow cardstock and I have used a few sequins to embellish the card…
Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look at my card today…Happy crafting…!!

Thank You Card

I have tried partial die-cutting for a few cards before and wanted to give it another try….you could look at a few tutorials by Jennifer McGuire to understand the procedure and then give it a go….
For today’s card I stamped the flourish images directly on the white card base using a dark green dye ink….I used a small dots stamp and light green ink to fill up the white spaces…
On a separate piece of cardstock same width as the card base,I stamped the thank you stamp and used a pencil to create the line across…this would be the part which I die cut partially….so I adhered the die and die cut the piece only till the pencil line and used a craft knife to cut out the rest..I have stamped the swirls and dots on this panel as well…
I then adhered this panel onto the card base using a thick adhesive foam tape and added a few rhinestones to embellish it…

Here’s a close up of the card so you can see the partially die cut front panel a bit better…

I have some printed papers with beautiful watercolour  effects on them and tend to use them quite often and I wanted to try making a similar paper/background for this card using Peerless Watercolours….
To create the first layer of the card I used a chevron stencil on top of the paper and started dabbing in a few different colours on the watercolour paper…I didn’t want it to be perfect so did not bother much about stencilling it perfectly….
Once the watercolour was dry,I heat embossed the sentiment at the top and then attached three punched out banners in various sizes and colours to finish the card…
Hope you liked it…

I think it is quite sensible to give a simple gift card instead of a present to someone you don’t know very well and let them choose something themselves…what you can do is to present the gift card in a more beautiful way and not in the very boring printed card holder that retailers give you….
I have used the WRMK envelope punch board here and just scored and punched three sides of the 5″ square cardstock instead of four…the fourth end has been left open and you can see a  hint of the gift card inside…
I decided not use double sided paper for this project….instead I used a stencil and distress inks to print a design on the back of the printed paper…the front of the envelope pouches are decorated with die cuts and stamped sentiments…
Hope you liked these.

This time when I wanted to use a Polaroid frame die cut on a card,I thought to make things easy for myself and do the layout like a scrapbook page….
The card is a square white and the top layer had been created using a stencil and distress inks….then a couple of die cut hearts were added and then the Polaroid frame…the word xoxo was cut out of the frame and another one in red added in its place…and lastly the sentiment was placed at the top which is in the shape of an arrow…
I have again used vellum paper to stamp the Fizzy Moon stamp and coloured it in and then added to the back of the picture frame…
Hope you like it.

A bokeh effect card background has been on my to do list for a very long time…every time I looked up a tutorial,I thought it wasn’t my cup of tea as it involved repeating a lot of steps which involved heat embossing etc……I wanted and easier and quicker version so I came up with my own technique for this card …
I started with a stencil and mustard seed distress ink and printed circles in various sizes all over one section of the card….then I did the same with clear Versamark ink and covered the rest of the section lightly with mowed lawn and shabby shutters distress inks and a bit of mustard seed distress ink as well….and lastly I used white pigment ink to lightly print a few circles here and there…
The sentiment is stamped on a circle and attached to the paper bow using a gold string…
Hope you liked this card…

Hello…..You’re reading my very first post…

I love crafting(what’s not to love?)….mainly with paper…and love to create and learn something or the other whenever I can get a little bit of time..If I’m not making something, then I’m prepping things to make something later on…

There are so many wonderfully talented crafters teaching all sorts of techniques and styles with their detailed measurements and tutorial videos which is so helpful for new crafters to learn….and there is so so much to learn and try….

The idea for this blog…my very first one(yay!!)….is to post something I created – everyday if I can…

I do not pay attention to brand names and products and most of my packaging is thrown away immediately….especially stamps….For me it is never about the product used but the end result…

Clicking pictures of my creations is another thing I’m working on…

This simple card below was made using a stencil, glitter tape,a few sequins, stamps…the flowers were heat embossed and coloured in…

Hope you liked my creation…Have a lovely day..!!
