One Layer Cards

Today I’m sharing two cards with you….both are single layered ones and I’ve followed the tutorials printed in the latest issue I received of the Australian Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft Magazine Vol. 22 No. 9

The first one is on Pg 56 by Cindi Gilfillian…..and she has taught how to mask a larger area on a card front and stamp on rest of the card….

I have used a plain white card base and used a shaped mask to cover one section of the card and then used a lot of large and small flower stamps and bright inks to cover the whole card….

Once the stamping was complete,I simply lifted the mask and stamped the large sentiment with bright red ink…I have also used clear sequins to decorate this card…

Now the second card I tried from this magazine is on Pg 44 by Linda Langes called Hedgehog Balloon….the idea of these cards is to have a plain card front with a bright and colourful scene inside…
I started with a plain white card base and die cut a balloon on the front and stamped a string and adhered the stamped, coloured in and fussy-cut image of a little boy….this die cut section would see through to the inside of the card…
On the inside,I stamped the balloon images with Versamark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder….I then covered the whole section with Mustard Seed distress ink…then to make it more colourful,I stamped flowers in various colours…
I die cut the word ‘happy’ from blue foil cardstock and stamped the word ‘birthday’ on red cardstock and placed it on the inside of the card and the card was ready….
I had a lot of fun making these cards and I hope you liked both of them…
Thanks for stopping by…

Post#193 – Distress Inks Lifting Technique Card

Whenever I learn something new from a tutorial,I usually do a trial and then plan out the actual project…today’s card was a trial which turned out pretty great so I went ahead and finished the card with it…
I have followed a tutorial by Jennifer McGuire in which she teaches the Distress Inks Lifting Technique
So I have white heat embossed the image, then covered the whole top layer liberally with dusty concord distress ink…with a brush and water,I painted the inside of the flowers, stems and leaf….this lightened the colour and once dry I painted in the flowers with picked raspberry and the stems with mowed lawn distress ink….
I heat embossed the sentiment with white heat embossing powder as well….rounded two corners of the top layer and the card base….and decorated the card with a few adhesive white pearls…
If you like playing with distress inks then you should try this technique as well….

Hope you liked my card….

I love the versatility of distress inks….they blend so well and also react with water/liquids to create a great dimension to any design…
For today’s card, I started with a white plain cardstock base…The top layer is also white but has been coloured in with bright distress inks…once it was fully covered,I misted an embossing folder with a water filled spritzer and quickly stamped the top layer and dried it with a heat gun…then stamped the sentiment and used gold heat embossing powder for it…….I also added two thin strips of glitter cardstock at the base of the top layer before adhering it to the card base….
I stamped and coloured in the image of a little girl on a separate piece of cardstock and then cut it out….I have used adhesive sponge squares underneath the image to make it pop up on the card….and finally I have added quite a few sequins to decorate the card…
Hope you liked this one…

I’ve had this stamp set called Bubblegum Hills by Kaisercraft for a verrrryy long time but I haven’t used it at all…every time I got the stamps out, I put them back as I had no idea what to create with it….and today I’ve finally put them back after using one of the stamps in the set…
The card base is plain blue…For the top layer I have used distress inks to create a bright background….I then stamped the image with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder…
The sentiment is stamped on a green banner and heat embossed as well…I did not want to add any more colours to this card so I used clear sequins to decorate it….
Hope you liked it…

I love how this gift bag turned out so I’m really happy to share this with you today….
I have followed the tutorial by the fabulous Sam Donald and made this gift bag…It’s a huge one and can hold heaps of stuff….Here’s the link for her tutorial – It’s My Party Huge Bag
Now I had to change the top folding part in the video….and that was because Sam has used a double sided paper which looks really pretty when folded out at the top….but I’ve used one sided printed paper and didn’t want the plain white to show outside….so I’ve simply skipped that step, and folded the top part downwards and tied a string around it…
I have used two shades of green cardstock for the front panel….the top panel has a gold heat embossed message….and to decorate the panel I have punched out and adhered three small flowers from peach cardstock…
Hope you like my version of the bag…

Today I’m sharing a simple and elegant anniversary card…..
My Stampin Up demonstrator sent me a few goodies last month….some beautiful cardstock, some printed DSP and some embellishments…and this plain green cardstock caught my eye….It’s such a pretty colour…I’m not familiar with SU paper colours but I think this one is called Pistachio Pudding(pls. correct me if I’m wrong)…
I have used gold cardstock as the base and the green as the mat…I wanted the green to show more so the top layer is quite smaller than the green one….
After rounding the corners of all the layers,I have stamped the top layer using Versamark Ink and a large Doily Stamp and then used a gold embossing powder to heat emboss it…I also stamped and gold embossed the ‘Happy Anniversary’ stamp on a banner punched out of the same green cardstock…
At the center of the doily stamp I have placed a large flower punched from gold cardstock with a rhinestone in the middle….
Hope you liked this card…

I had thought of trying out this colour combination towards the end of last year….but it looked too Halloween-y at that time…Grey,Orange & Black look great together….and here’s my card using these colours…
The card base is light grey and the top layer is orange….I have used a corner punch to round off all four corners of both layers….
To write the whole message on the card,I have split the message into three different peices…..First I stamped ‘You Are So Sweet’ with orange ink on a grey banner strip, then I heat embossed the ‘&’ with silver embossing powder and finally I die cut the word ‘lovely’ with black glitter cardstock…
I have used a silver foil card stock and black adhesive pearls to punch a few flowers to decorate the card…
Hope you like this card….

Post#173 – Happy Birthday Flowers Card

So while I had all the distress inks out to create yesterdays Valentine’s card,I quickly created a background for a birthday card….
On a white card base I used a stencil and a few different distress inks to create the background….while the stencil was still in place,I rubbed on Versamark ink and then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder…this made the background waterproof as well as shiny…
I die cut a small white rectangle using the stitched die and adhered two flowers that I had coloured in and cut out…I placed this at the centre of the card using foam squares…I also placed a die cut ‘happy birthday’ near the top of the card…
To decorate the card,I have used clear sequins in various sizes….
Hope you liked this card…

I had a lot of fun planning and making this card….while I was looking through my stamps for something for Valentines Day,I came across these stamps with symbols of + and = and this became the main focus of my card….
It’s a 5″ square white card base with a plain bright red mat….the top layer is white and I have used a hearts mask and light pink ink to create a background….I then stamped the words ‘you’ and ‘me’ with red dye ink…..and I have gold heat embossed for the + = and ‘forever’ word stamps…
At the base of the top layer,I have added a strip each of gold glitter cardstock and pink glitter cardstock…at the top i have only used a gold glitter strip…I also punched a red heart  and placed it above the word ‘forever’…..
Hope you liked this card…
